Question 1

How quickly should I call for storm damage restoration after a Fort Worth storm?

Accepted Answer

Contact a restoration company within 24 hours of storm damage. Water intrusion from roof damage or broken windows can lead to mold growth within 24-48 hours according to IICRC S520 standards. Immediate response allows technicians to document damage for your insurance claim, perform emergency tarping or board-up to prevent further damage, and begin water extraction before secondary issues develop. Standard insurance claims in Fort Worth take 4-8 weeks to process, but emergency mitigation work typically begins the same day you call.

Question 2

Does insurance cover storm damage restoration in Fort Worth, TX?

Accepted Answer

Most homeowner policies in Fort Worth cover wind and hail damage, which are the primary storm threats in this region. Fort Worth sits in "Hail Alley" and has experienced 227 hail events since 2004, including storms in June 2023 that caused $7-10 billion in insured losses across the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Your policy likely covers roof repair, water damage from storm intrusion, and debris removal. However, flood damage typically requires separate flood insurance. Rapid Restoration works directly with insurance adjusters and provides detailed documentation that meets insurance requirements, helping ensure your claim accurately reflects all damage.

Question 3

What makes IICRC certification important for storm restoration?

Accepted Answer

IICRC (Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification) certification means technicians have completed rigorous training in water damage restoration, structural drying, and mold remediation standards. IICRC standards are ANSI-accredited, which gives them weight in insurance claim disputes and ensures documented professional standard of care. Certified technicians understand moisture dynamics, proper drying protocols, and how to classify water damage (Category 1, 2, or 3) to determine appropriate remediation methods. This reduces the risk of failed restoration requiring expensive rework and helps ensure insurance companies accept the scope of work.

Question 4

How long does storm damage restoration take in Fort Worth?

Accepted Answer

Timeline depends on damage severity. Emergency services like tarping, board-up, and water extraction typically begin within hours of your call. Structural drying takes 3-5 days for most residential properties. Complete restoration including roof repair, interior repairs, and reconstruction can take 2-6 weeks depending on material availability and the extent of damage. Insurance claim processing adds 4-8 weeks for standard claims, though we begin emergency mitigation immediately. Complex claims involving multiple systems or significant structural damage may take 2-4 months to fully resolve.

Question 5

What types of storm damage are most common in Fort Worth?

Accepted Answer

Fort Worth's position in "Hail Alley" means hail damage is the most frequent issue, affecting roofs, siding, gutters, and HVAC units. Wind damage from severe thunderstorms causes roof shingle loss, broken windows, and fallen trees. Water intrusion follows when damaged roofs or windows allow rain inside, leading to ceiling damage, wall damage, and potential mold growth. Fort Worth has experienced hailstones up to 3 inches in diameter, capable of puncturing asphalt shingles and cracking tile roofs. We handle all storm-related damage including roof repairs, water extraction, structural drying, debris removal, and complete reconstruction.

Question 6

Should I make temporary repairs before the insurance adjuster arrives?

Accepted Answer

Yes—you're required to prevent further damage, but document everything first. Take photos and videos of all damage before making any repairs. Emergency repairs like tarping damaged roofs or boarding broken windows are expected and reimbursable, but keep all receipts. Do not make permanent repairs before the adjuster inspects, as this can complicate your claim. Rapid Restoration provides emergency mitigation services that meet insurance requirements while preserving evidence for your claim. Our documentation includes detailed photos, moisture readings, and itemized scopes that insurance adjusters trust.
